I just ordered three gift subscriptions to Cookie Magazine (one going to a friend in India) and found out today that Conde Nast is no longer publishing it. I hate what to think is going to come in its place. I’ve posted about my frustrations about replacement subscriptions in the past.

I too suggest that you renew any of your favorite magazines. I just renewed Dear Dave, Aperture, Blindspot & ArtForum..trying to keep good mail alive.

I’m back to writing about my Wow+ or Yes! votes for the next round of Photo Lucida. I’m happy to see so many of my favorites made it to this round.

One artist whose work I enjoy looking at, however creepy these portraits may be is, Rachelle Mozman. Rachelle photographs children in their homes out in Exurbia, and in gated communities located in New Jersey and Central America. I have recently become interested in this idea of Exurbia, because I didn’t think anything could be worse than the Suburbs. Exurbs are thought of as a place where people sleep, since most of their lives are spent working in the not so nearby urban areas with a long commute, and participating in activities which are also outside their living environments. These areas have little industry or resources other than the basic grocery stores, post office, etc.

There is definitely a trend going on with these kinds of portraits. I’ll post more examples as I continue to vote.
